Michael Dokes, former World Boxing Assn. heavyweight champion, has been arrested on drug charges for the second time in six months, Las Vegas Police said.
He was arrested during a routine traffic stop Monday after his 1987 model car allegedly sped and swerved. Dokes, 28, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on charges of driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance and violating probation.
Police said that a passenger in Dokes’ car, Raymond Holmes, 32, told officers that Dokes had ingested two rocks of cocaine. Officers said Dokes confirmed he had taken the drug.
Dokes was arrested Oct. 26, 1986, on charges of possession of a controlled substance and narcotics trafficking. District Judge Miriam Shearing in February sentenced Dokes to five years’ probation after the fighter pleaded guilty to drug possession.
