In August, the Boston CBS affiliate WNEV plans to broadcast the “CBS Evening News” at 6:30 p.m. EDT, a half-hour earlier than the national news on the affiliates of the other two networks, station officials said Thursday. Station officials would not say what program will replace the national newscast at 7 p.m. A station spokesman said CBS News President Howard Stringer “didn’t endorse” the action, but “he understood.” The changes were based on a market analysis of when people get home and eat dinner, said station co-owner David Mugar.
