A man riding a bicycle was killed Sunday morning when he attempted to make a left turn and was hit head-on by a car, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A coroner’s spokesman identified the victim as Duane Bollig, 42, of Mission Viejo, who died at the scene.
A spokesman for the CHP said the accident occurred on Alicia Parkway, west of Trabuco Road, at 8:05 a.m. The bicyclist apparently had left the curb and was heading for the left-turn pocket of the intersection, when he was struck by the vehicle, the spokesman said.
The driver of the car was not identified and it was not immediately known whether the person was held or cited.
