The Soviet Union and China agreed at talks in Moscow on the need to further improve relations and decided to hold another meeting in October, the official Soviet news agency Tass reported. It said the nations discussed normalization of relations, regional conflicts and other problems. Soviet Foreign Minister Eduard A. Shevardnadze and Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Qian Qichen reportedly continued to differ on Cambodia, Afghanistan and border issues. Relations between the two nations have been strained since the 1960s.
