A young man allegedly took his aunt’s car and deliberately got involved in a chase with police that extended through two other cities before he was captured, San Diego police said.

Lt. Connie van Putten said Larry Williams, 18, of San Diego, got patrol units to pursue him at high speeds because “he wanted to find out what it was like.”

The chase began near Denby Street and Martin Luther King Way and made its way through La Mesa and Lemon Grove, Van Putten said.

Police said Williams rammed his car into a pursuing patrol car before officers were finally able to subdue him. No officer was injured in the chase, Van Putten said.

Williams was booked at County Jail downtown on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and failing to yield to police.
