Page and Riesgo Help SDSU Split With Wyoming
Greg Page pitched a four-hitter and Nikco Riesgo hit a three-run home run to lead San Diego State to a 13-2 victory over Wyoming and a split of a Western Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Wednesday at Laramie, Wyo.
Wyoming won the first game, 7-6, when Sky Smeltzer hit a leadoff home run in the seventh inning.
Freshman Billy Miller hit a home run for SDSU (9-9, 28-25-1) in the second game. Aztec right fielder Bob Parry was 6 for 9 with three doubles in the doubleheader.
In the first game, SDSU scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the score, 6-6. But Smeltzer hit the first pitch off Aztec starter and loser Mike Erb (6-5) for a home run to win it for Wyoming.
The Cowboys are 9-9, 24-18.
