Movie-going is more popular than ever, judging from the 20% jump in domestic box-office sales this spring break over last year, Daily Variety reported this week. Top draws during the spring break period: “Lethal Weapon,” “Platoon” and “Blind Date.” During the period spanning March 18 through April 22, theaters sold 95.5 million tickets at a composite price of $3.84 for a gross of $336.7 million, compared to last year’s sale of 79.9 million tickets (sold at a composite of $3.65) for $291.7 million. Cumulative box office through April 22 was $1.1 billion, running $145 million ahead of the box-office gross total of 1986 for the same time.
