AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: Expect to see--and hear--a lot of Madonna this summer. The pop starlet, who’s slated to be on the cover of Cosmopolitan next month, will be starring in the upcoming Warner Bros. film “Who’s That Girl,” due in July. Naturally, a sound-track album will be out as well (from Warner Bros. Records), which is scheduled to include a quartet of Madonna tunes, including the title track (which will be released as a single in June) and “Causing a Commotion,” a new song co-written with Steve Bray of the Breakfast Club. The album will also feature new tunes from Coati Mundi (“El Coco Loco”), Scritti Politti and Club Nouveau. . . . Roy Orbison has a new double-album due out later this month from Virgin Records, which will feature a host of 1985 re-recorded versions of his old hits, plus a new version of “In Dreams,” produced by T-Bone Burnett and film maker David Lynch, who spotlighted the song during a nightmarish party scene in last year’s cult classic, “Blue Velvet.” Better still, Orbison will do an “In Dreams” video that will be supervised by Lynch. . . . Meanwhile, Wall of Voodoo has just finished a video of its remake of the Beach Boys’ “Do It Again,” which stars none other than Brian Wilson himself. The clip includes such unusual scenes as Wilson asleep in a sandbox and a surreal Voodoo Beach party populated by muscle-bound beach bunnies and scrawny surfers with 15-foot arms. . . . Speaking of strange images: What kind of video might we expect from shock-rockers Skinny Puppy, whose lead singer often arrives on stage in a plastic bag (he calls it a “body condom”) and proceeds to stab himself and frolic in a pool of fake blood? We haven’t seen the group’s new clip, “Stairs and Flowers,” but the band’s record label--Capitol Records--has found a perfect marketing angle. They’re screening the video before midnight showings of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at various theaters around the country.
