Local News in Brief : Sylmar Man Arrested in Death of Passenger
A Sylmar man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after a passenger in his pickup truck was killed when it crashed into a van late Sunday in Sylmar, Los Angeles police said.
The man, Bryan Hodges, 25, was free on $2,500 bail Monday after being taken into custody at Van Nuys Jail on Sunday night, Officer Bill Mulvihill said.
Hodges was arrested after his truck rear-ended a U-Haul van at about 11 p.m. on San Fernando Road just south of Bledsoe Street, killing his passenger, Ralph Turner, 23, of South Gate, Mulvihill said.
The driver of the van, Cuactemac Diaz, 32, of Hayward, and his passenger, Joe Reynaud, 28, of Phoenix, were not hurt, Mulvihill said.
