SON OF ‘BULLITT’

Frank Bullitt, the hard-hitting, hot-driving San Francisco cop created by Steve McQueen (1968, Warners) will ride again . . . sort of. Chad McQueen, the late actor’s son, is set for the driver’s seat this time.

“Bullitt II” (tentative title), currently in development at Warners/Showtime as a made-for-TV movie, will take up the story 20 years later, according to co-producer Dan Grodnick: “In the new script, Bullitt has been murdered. However, his son has arrived in San Francisco to find out what’s happened and to avenge his death.”

Several actors from the original are being sought to reprise their roles, Grodnick said. Already set is Robert Vaughn, who played the corrupt politician Chalmers.

Alan Trustman, who co-wrote the original, has submitted a first draft script for a hoped-for shoot before year’s end.
