Bus Driver’s Driving Record

Share

The article about a shuttle bus being hit by a car whose driver failed to stop for a red light (April 23) has me upset. I want to register a complaint about the inclusion in the article of information on the bus driver’s accident record.

If there was any indication whatever that victim-driver Dawn Conners was suspected of causing the accident this discussion would have been relevant. However, there was no indication whatever that she was guilty of causing the other driver to hit her vehicle, or of any negligence on her part. The article states that she was not cited by police.

This kind of reporting is unfair and unjust. It is victim-bashing at its worst--a case of blaming the victim for a crime she didn’t commit (the other driver violated the vehicle code).

I have an excellent driving record, but I don’t have to drive every day in heavy traffic and in malls, which I find extremely dangerous. Cars are backed out of parking places recklessly, carts roll into cars and people dash in front of moving vehicles--the difficulties must be compounded by having to drive on a tight schedule as well.
