Westminster : Boy at Children’s Home After Mother Left Him

Share

A 4-year-old Westminster boy remained in protective custody Sunday, a day after his mother dropped him off in a Fountain Valley parking lot and didn’t come back.

Jason Jean Charreau was initially thought to have been abandoned, but when police located his mother Saturday night, they said she was “very confused” and had dropped her son off Saturday morning at the First Baptist Church parking lot, thinking it was Thursday and time for school.

Fountain Valley Police Officer Rusty Speer said that the mother, Genevieve Charreau, was not charged with any crime. But, Speer said, Jason will be held at the Orangewood Children’s Home until his father returns from a trip to France.

“Because of what happened, her mental lapse . . . the child will be staying in Orangewood until the father can return home,” Speer said.
