Flex Time
It was with some amusement that I read the letter (May 5) from Atty. Gen. John Van de Kamp giving himself a pat on the back for implementing flex time in the attorney general’s office as a means of reducing freeway congestion.
To set the record straight (and to save the attorney general from further contortion of his tennis arm), it should be noted that flex time was first implemented in that office by George Deukmejian when he was attorney general. More important, the credit for flex time (and a collective pat on the back) rightfully belongs to those deputies attorney general who conceived the idea and first proposed it to then Atty. Gen. Deukmejian.
