Police narcotics officers in El Paso, Tex., arrested a second woman on cocaine charges as a result of an investigation into the death of former Texas El Paso basketball star Hernell (Jeep) Jackson.

Thelma Apodaca, 24, was charged with delivery of less than 28 grams of cocaine. She was being held in El Paso County Jail late Monday under $100,000 bond.

Jackson died suddenly after playing in a charity benefit basketball game at Ft. Bliss May 2.

An autopsy was inconclusive. The county medical examiner is awaiting the results of tests on blood, tissue and urine specimens.

But an affidavit by Detective Joe Garcia last week said police “believed that cocaine was the contributing factor to the death.”
