Coast : Public Hearing to Be Held on Coast Land Use
Proposed changes to the Irvine Coast Local Coastal Program will be discussed at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at an Orange County Planning Commission public hearing.
The plan reflects changes in land-use type and configuration as well as density and intensity of development for the 9,432 acres between the cities of Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.
Key features of the proposed development are the deletion of 200,000 square feet of the permitted office use and the expansion of hotel use near the proposed intersection of Pelican Hill Road and Coast Highway. Other proposed changes include clustering of 2,600 residential units on the ridges between Newport Beach and Crystal Cove State Park and preservation of 1,259 acres of additional open space in Buck Gully, Los Trancos Canyon and the slopes of Pelican Hill.
The plan would alter the land-use plan adopted by the Orange County Board of Supervisors in 1981.
This is the first of at least two public hearings on the proposal that will be held at the Orange County Hall of Administration.
