Jacumba Motorist Killed in I-8 Crash
A 56-year-old man was killed Sunday and his wife was injured when their pickup truck collided with a car on Interstate 8 near Alpine, authorities said.
John Francis of Jacumba was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Mary, 49, suffered minor injures.
The pickup was westbound about a half mile west of the Willows Road turnoff when it collided with a passenger car about 3 p.m. After overturning several times, the truck came to rest in the divider strip, the California Highway Patrol said.
John Francis was thrown from the vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
The CHP is investigating.
