Downtown Wine & Food Festival to Benefit L.A. Library

Samplings from 40 wineries will be offered at the first Downtown Wine & Food Festival May 31 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the garden level of the Union Bank Building, 445 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles. All proceeds will go to the Los Angeles Central Library--”Save The Books” fund.

Participating wineries include Jordan, Acacia, Clos du Val, William Hill, Beaulieu Vineyard, Cain Cellars and Firestone. Accompanying the wine will be appetizer-size specialties from Bernard’s, Top of Five, Casey’s, Lindsey’s, Pacific Dining Car, Philippe the Original, the New Otani Hotel, Parkway Grill, the Original Sonora Cafe, El Cholo, the Rex Ristorante, Cha Cha Cha and the Ravel.

The “Save the Books” campaign was launched in May, 1986 to raise $10 million needed to replace volumes lost in two arson fires. Tickets to the festival are $65. Information: (213) 690-2011.
