POPPING BACK : CLASSIC ROCK--THE PEOPLE SPEAK

Share

In the Popping Off column on May 10, Chris Willman criticized the “classic rock” radio format for its narrow definition of classic rock and for discouraging diversity in programming. Here’s a sample of reader response.

Willman’s contention that KLSX should play music by the Sex Pistols, the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. is no doubt disputed by the thousands of rock fans who would rather listen to the genius in a Jackson Browne lyric or a Duane Allman guitar solo than to be forced to listen to a bunch of buffoons whose idea of musical talent is to be able to spit beer on each other or scratch a needle back and forth on a record.
