POPPING BACK : CLASSIC ROCK--THE PEOPLE SPEAK

Share

In the Popping Off column on May 10, Chris Willman criticized the “classic rock” radio format for its narrow definition of classic rock and for discouraging diversity in programming. Here’s a sample of reader response.

Having lived my teen years smack in the middle of 1972-78, a lot of the music receiving air play on KLSX, etc., is the stuff I grew up on. I feel there’s a place for this music--mainly on the shelf in my home record collection. I can’t help but feel that those stations are for those who are feeling temporary attacks of nostalgia and for those who can’t let go of the “good ‘ol days” and move on.
