Bert Novak has been named president of McDonnell Douglas Field Service Co. in Irvine. He replaces Vern Hart, who is working on a “special assignment” for Otis Brinkley, president of McDonnell Douglas Computer Systems Co.

Novak was previously director of quality assurance and technical support for McDonnell Douglas Network Systems Co. in Cupertino, which he first joined in 1967 when it was known as Tymshare Corp. By 1984, when the company was acquired by McDonnell Douglas, he was group vice president of Tymshare’s Computer Management Services Division.
