A cab driver was shot and killed Monday morning following an altercation with another cab driver in the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue in downtown San Diego, police reported.
The victim was identified by the county coroner’s office as Maurice Thomas, 31, who died in surgery at the UC San Diego Medical Center after being shot in the chest. Police Sgt. Jim Wallace said another cab driver, Otha Hunter, 25, was arrested at the scene without incident. He was booked into County Jail downtown on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail.
Wallace said the reason for the shooting was unknown.
