Baldwin Park : Claim Against Police Denied
The City Council has denied a $12-million claim filed by 11 Baldwin Park residents and a Pomona resident who say Baldwin Park police officers arrested, assaulted and battered them without just cause during a party last fall.
The officers had responded to complaints about the party at a home on Vineland Avenue. As they tried to arrest people at the party, a crowd tried to “free these persons from our custody,” according to a police report.
The claim puts officials on notice that a lawsuit might be filed against the city. The claimants have six months to file the court action.
