‘Christ’ Removed

Share

The article (May 18), “ ‘Christ’ Removed in Name of Bible Sculpture Garden,” states that the county supervisors have removed the word “Christ” from the name of the Desert Christ Park, a county-owned facility because of a threat by the American Civil Liberties Union to force the county to abandon the park because it “violates constitutional provisions on the relationship of church and state.”

In order to please the ACLU perhaps we should immediately arrange to remove the words “Los Angeles’ from the County Hall of Records, and the City Hall. And, since Martin Luther King Jr. was a Christian clergyman, the street named for him must be renamed.

Certainly the Los Angeles County Museum of Art must be torn down because it contains works depicting Christian and Jewish themes. And how about Elysian Park? The name must absolutely be changed or else the park abandoned because we cannot allow the city to favor the old Greek religion.

And then there is the state government. There is no excuse for them to have the capital in a place called Sacramento. They must either move out, or destroy the city, or change the name. How about calling it “Acluville”?
