Two unmasked, pistol-wielding young men took about $100,000 from the World Savings Bank in Fountain Valley on Thursday after herding customers and employees into a vault, police said.

The robbery began shortly after 3 p.m. when one of the men entered the bank at 16123 Harbor Blvd. and put a large-caliber handgun to a teller’s head, according to Lt. Dave Brokaw.

Police said the man appeared to be in his mid-20s, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, with dark blond or brown hair and several days’ growth of beard.

Together with the second bandit, described as also in his mid-20s, 5 feet 8 with short red hair and a mustache and carrying a blue-steel automatic pistol, he ordered the tellers and customers into the bank vault.

The two then collected cash from the bank’s counting area and tellers’ cash drawers and fled. None of the customers were injured, Brokaw said.
