WASHINGTON — The Senate Foreign Relations Committee today recommended rejection of President Reagan’s proposed $75-million sale of 12 F-5E fighters to Honduras, which critics said would add to militarization in Central America.
The Democratic-controlled committee approved a measure opposing the sale 10 to 9 on a party-line vote. The full Senate and House have 30 days to reject the sale, but Reagan could veto the legislation. The closeness of the committee vote indicated a tight vote on the Senate floor.
