PARIS — The trial of three suspected members of the leftist French terror group Direct Action resumed under heavy security Wednesday six months after it was stopped because a defendant threatened jurors.
Regis Schleicher, 30, Claude Halfen, 31, and his brother, Nicolas Halfen, 24, were led handcuffed into the courtroom and took seats on a bench with a police officer beside each one and four more standing behind them.
The trial for the three men originally opened last December. Schleicher, in an opening statement at the time, told jurors that those “who will participate in our judgment will expose themselves to the rigors of proletarian justice.”
