The Release of Singleton

Share

The Times had an article and pictures (May 26) on the “plight” of the unfortunate Mr. Singleton and a mob of 500 people.

Quoting Assistant Sheriff Warren Rupf, “How can you justify mob reaction, we have a mob mentality, where does it stop?” I say in answer to him, “How can you justify raping a teen-age girl, chopping off her arms and leaving her for dead? What kind of mentality would you say that was? And, I agree, where does it stop?”

Does anyone honestly believe that eight years is equal punishment for his crime? Do you honestly blame the peoples anger at this outrageous lack of justice?

I don’t believe in mobs taking over either, but I don’t believe that criminals should get off without any kind of retribution for their hideous crimes.

People are getting angry and they are going to get a lot angrier unless we do something about setting these monsters free to commit the same crimes on innocent victims again, and again, and again.
