A Dehesa man was sentenced Thursday to 17 years in prison in the abduction and molestation of a 9-year-old Santee girl.

David William Turner, 26, of Dehesa was also fined $200 by San Diego Superior Court Judge Wayne Peterson.

Turner pleaded guilty May 4 to two counts of performing lewd and lascivious acts on the girl, and the kidnaping charge was dismissed.

The prosecutor urged the maximum 19-year term. Turner’s attorney, Michael Sideman, said his client had alcohol and drug problems. He urged a 9-year sentence.

The father of the girl testified about his “15 hours of uncertainty” on Nov. 1, 1986, when the girl was abducted from Mast Park in Santee. After she was released, the girl wandered the streets of El Cajon until a woman noticed her. She refused to get into the woman’s car, and the woman flagged down two sheriff’s deputies for help.

About 140 deputies and volunteers searched all night for the girl.
