Yankees Trade Joe Niekro to Twins

MILWAUKEE —
The New York Yankees traded veteran knuckleball pitcher Joe Niekro to the Minnesota Twins for catcher Mark Salas Saturday night. The Twins also received cash.
Niekro, 42, has a career record of 216-194. He is 3-4 with a 3.55 earned-run average this season.
Salas, 26, has split time as the Twins’ catcher this season. He batted .233 with 8 home runs and 33 RBI’s for Minnesota in 1986.
