A three-year collective bargaining agreement has been reached between International Light Metals Inc. and United Steelworkers of America Local 6700, officials reported. Issuing a joint statement from union and management representatives, Charles Emery, director of personnel for the Torrance firm, said the new contract “puts more emphasis on team-building and joint labor and management problem-solving.” The team concept had already been part of management and labor relations for the last 18 months, he added, but under the new contract, “it’s been emphasized.” Workers for the company, which makes parts from aluminum and titanium, had been without a contract since April 30.
