2 More Airlines to Raise Fares
Continental Airlines and United Airlines announced today they will match Trans World Airlines’ plan to raise domestic air fares $3 to $7 on tickets written on or after June 19 in order to offset recent fuel cost increases.
TWA announced last week that it has planned the domestic fare increases because of fuel prices that have risen more than 20% between November and April. The airline said tickets on international flights will rise $8. United said it is matching TWA’s domestic increases and is “looking at” international fare increases. Continental said it will omit the $8 increase on international flights.
