ABC ADDS TO ITS DAYTIME LINEUP

ABC will premiere one new daytime program at the end of June and has another in development for late 1987 or early 1988, network officials told their annual affiliates meeting here.

“Bargain Hunters,” a combination game show and home-shopping show, will debut June 29 at 10:30 a.m., replacing reruns of “Webster.”

The program, from Merrill Heatter Productions, will be hosted by Peter Tomarkin and will allow viewers to get in on the contestants’ bargaining by dialing a special 800 number to purchase some items seen on the telecast.

Beyond that, ABC said that it is developing another daytime program called “The Home Show,” a “how-to” series co-hosted by Sandy Hill and Robb Weller.

Jo Ann Emmerich, ABC’s vice president of daytime programs, told the affiliates at their annual convention at the Century Plaza that the show will feature “experts (whom) the audience can relate to: real people who have found original and time-saving solutions to problems our viewers deal with every day.”
