Sicilian Smuggles His Daughter in Suitcase

MESSINA, Sicily — A Sicilian waiter fleeing a broken marriage in West Germany smuggled his baby daughter out in a suitcase, Italian television reported Wednesday.
Giuseppe Pantano told the Italian network RAI he was worried that officials at the West German border with Austria would not allow him to take his 18-month-old daughter Daniela with him.
Pantano, who worked as a waiter in Munich, said he drove home to Sicily three days ago, after his marriage to a West German woman broke up.
