Countywide : Scoville Is Reelected Chief of Superior Court
Harmon G. Scoville was unanimously reelected presiding judge of the Orange County Superior Court, officials said.
Scoville, the court’s senior judge, was named to the California Judicial Council this year by Malcolm M. Lucas, chief justice of the state Supreme Court.
Appointed by then-Gov. Ronald Reagan in 1969, Scoville has served in most court calendar assignments and supervised probate and law and motion departments during his tenure.
Scoville’s reelection as chief among Orange County’s 54 Superior Court judges comes at a time of rapidly increasing court business.
He worked with county supervisors earlier this year in proposing short- and long-term solutions to both space and personnel shortages in the superior court. Five jurists were elected Friday to the executive committee of the courts, the top policy-making body of the bench.
They are Judges Jerrold S. Oliver, Leonard Goldstein, Judith M. Ryan, Henry T. Moore Jr., and Tully H. Seymour.
