Man Pleads Guilty in Abortion Clinic Blast
An abortion clinic bomber who turned himself in the day after Cardinal John J. O’Connor, the Roman Catholic archbishop of New York, broadcast an appeal for him to surrender pleaded guilty Friday to bombing one clinic and trying to blow up another.
John Malvasi, 37, a Vietnam veteran and licensed pyrotechnist, pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the October, 1986, bombing of the Eastern Women’s Center in Manhattan and the attempted bombing of the Queen’s Women’s Medical Office in November, 1986.
He faces up to 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.
