Oklahoma State Leads by 14 Strokes Going Into Final Day of NCAA Golf

Oklahoma State, behind the three-under-par 69s of Brian Watts and Michael Bradley, took a 14-stroke lead in the team competition Friday, heading into the final round of the NCAA men’s golf championships at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.

After rounds of 74-71-69, Watts had the low individual score of two-under-par 214 through 54 holes. Bradley’s 74-72-69 put him at 215.

The Cowboys’ three-under 285 in the third round was the lowest daily score in the tournament.

Oklahoma State leads Oklahoma, 872 to 886. The Cowboys held an eight-stroke lead over BYU going into the final round a year ago, but were overtaken by Wake Forest.

Ohio State and Arkansas shared third place in the team standings with 891 strokes, followed by Wake Forest, with 893, and Fresno State, with 894.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were Houston Baptist with 897, and North Carolina, Clemson and Arizona State, tied for eighth with 899 strokes on the 7,104-yard, par-72 course.

Oklahoma’s Glen Day shot an even-par 72 to place third individually at even-par 216. Nolan Henke of Florida State and Wake Forest’s Barry Fabyan were next at 217.
