Local News in Brief : Sale of Big Sky Delayed for ‘International’ Bids

Share

The owners of the 6,711-acre Big Sky movie ranch in Simi Valley on Saturday postponed the sale of the ranch until they talk to what they term “international buyers” who want to bid on the property.

Larry Latham of Larry Latham Auctioneers said the Santa Monica-based Watt Enterprises, which owns the ranch, also decided to sell the ranch as one property, instead of dividing it into four individual parcels, as planned. The decision ended an auction at the Westlake Inn Saturday, where the four parcels were up for sale.

Latham said about two dozen international buyers were unable to attend the auction, and wanted a chance to bid on the ranch.

The property, the biggest remaining movie ranch in the country, has been the setting for films and television series, including “Gunsmoke” and “Little House on the Prairie.”
