Panama police used tear gas to break up a demonstration by about 80 people outside a Roman Catholic church during a fifth day of anti-government protests. Reports said that police tried to follow protesters into Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Panama City but were turned away by a priest. A 14-year-old girl was reported critically injured by police in a separate incident. The demonstrations began after accusations of election fraud and murder were leveled against military strongman Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega.
