An Inglewood man has been convicted of stealing a truck full of guard dogs and setting it ablaze. John Daniels, 30, was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison, a sheriff’s detective said. Daniels was found guilty in Pomona Superior Court on three felony counts of theft and arson stemming from the incident last fall, when he took the truck carrying 37 attack-trained dogs and set it afire on a Los Angeles street, according to Sheriff’s Detective Mike Bornman. Two of the dogs died in the blaze, and one was killed on the freeway when the surviving dogs escaped. The dogs--some of them aggressively trained “man-stoppers”--were worth an estimated $1,500 each, investigators said.
