Huntington Beach : 4 Nursing Graduates Awarded $2,500 Each
Four nursing program graduates were awarded $2,500 each at ceremonies conducted recently at Golden West College.
The winners, who are now practicing nurses, were co-winners of the Carl W. Bull Excellence in the Profession of Nursing Award. The $2,500 given each nurse is to be used for further professional development, such as postgraduate study or a specific project, college officials said.
Those who received the awards, and the nursing program they graduated from are: Kristin Lundberg, Golden West College in Huntington Beach; Gail Melander, Cypress College in Cypress; Vicki Sweet, Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, and Patti Zaremski, Rancho Santiago College in Santa Ana.
The Carl W. Bull award fund was launched in 1983 “to provide financial assistance to women pursuing training in nursing and allied paramedical fields.” The fund is named after its benefactor, a retired Security Pacific National Bank executive who died in 1981.
