A Beverly Hills attorney has been convicted of 23 felony counts for his role in a traffic collision fraud ring that bilked insurance companies out of more than $100,000, prosecutors said. Michael P. Bota was found guilty by Superior Court Judge Bernard J. Kamins of 12 counts of insurance fraud and 11 counts of grand theft at the conclusion of a non-jury trial. Bota, a Sherman Oaks resident who practices law in Beverly Hills, is scheduled to return to court Aug. 21 for sentencing. Bota, who is free on $50,000 bail, faces up to eight years in state prison.
