Chinese college students ended a six-day protest demanding the removal of a cigarette factory from their campus and returned to class. The boycott at the Central Institute of Banking and Finance in Beijing was the first reported student unrest in China since demonstrations for democracy erupted late last year. The state-run factory was built on the campus during the Cultural Revolution, and students complained about its noise and fumes. Officials promised that removal will begin June 30.
