A London hospital Wednesday rejected an offer of $1 million by pop singer Michael Jackson for the remains of Britain’s Elephant Man, the grotesquely deformed John Merrick, who died in 1900. Merrick’s remains are housed at the London Hospital Medical College, which recently turned down a previous offer of $500,000 by the singer. Jackson’s agent said he did not want to make money out of the remains, but was fascinated by their technical, medical and historical significance.
