Former Chicago Alderman Edward Vrdolyak said he will resign his city and county Democratic posts, fueling speculation he plans a switch to the GOP to continue his long-running feud with Mayor Harold Washington. In a letter to 80 Democratic committeemen, Vrdolyak called for a June 25 meeting to elect his replacement as chairman of the Cook County Democratic Central Committee. He also said a successor would be chosen for his chairmanship of the Chicago Democratic Central Committee. Vrdolyak gave up his aldermanic seat.
