Los Angeles has told the International Olympic Committee that the city is ready to host the 1988 Olympic Games if political turmoil forces South Korea to give them up, Mayor Tom Bradley said today.

Bradley said at a news conference that “the IOC has been told informally that Los Angeles has the facilities and could host the games on short notice.” He added that he strongly supports having the ’88 games in the South Korean capital of Seoul and hopes that nation can go ahead with the games. But he said that Los Angeles, host of the 1984 games, has “the capability of hosting the games if there is need.”
