Sunny Days Make Beaches Doggone Crowded

Share

The end of school and warm, clear days have brought summer crowds to Orange County beaches such as Corona del Mar, above. Not everyone enjoys the heat, though. Bear, a golden retriever owned by James Filardo of Huntington Beach, digs down to the wet sand, below, to find a cool place for a nap. The weekend should be bright and warm, say the forecasters, but there will be increasing night and morning low clouds near the coast as an offshore high-pressure ridge nudges a low-pressure system hanging around over the interior. The beaches will get hazy afternoon sunshine with high temperatures to upper 60s, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures inland are expected to be warmer, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Mountain resort areas will be in the 70s. High temperatures will be 88 to 98 in the upper deserts, 100 to 106 in the lower deserts. A three-foot surf is expected today at Southland beaches but is expected to decrease Saturday.
