APOCALYPSE, AGAIN

First, the success of “Platoon” paved the way for a reissue of “Go Tell the Spartans”--director Ted Post’s 1978 film about early U.S. involvement in Vietnam. (It’ll be re-released later this year.)
Now, we’ve learned that UA will reissue Francis Coppola’s 1979 Vietnam epic, “Apocalypse Now”--this, after years on videocassette and TV.
Sources at Coppola’s Zoetrope Studios confirmed the reissue. So did writer John Milius.
“Since ‘Platoon,’ it seems everybody wants to say, ‘Here’s our Vietnam film,’ ” Milius said, adding, “I don’t know, maybe ‘Apocalypse’ is one of those films people think they have to see on the big screen. Maybe it will find another audience.”
No more details--UA execs haven’t gotten back to us.
