Panamanian State of Emergency Extended

PANAMA CITY —
Panama’s National Assembly approved a presidential decree Saturday indefinitely extending the 10-day-old nationwide state of emergency.
The state of emergency sprang from anti-government protests last week calling for the ouster of Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega, Panama’s military strongman, after a former high military official accused him of involvement in corruption, electoral fraud and murder of an opposition leader.
