Times to Sponsor Pacific Basin Development Forum

Share

A Pacific Basin Development Conference is planned for Aug. 26-30 at Wailea, Maui, as a forum for builders and developers to explore the development opportunities throughout the Pacific Basin, under sponsorship of the Los Angeles Times.

Proceeds from the conference will benefit the Southern California Building Industry Assn. Education Fund, according to Joan Heid, retail and general display advertising manager, classified department, of The Times, who said the Hawaiian Islands site was chosen because of its location as the geographic center of the basin.

The continuing shift in the world economy toward dominance by countries that rim the Pacific Basin will be a principal subject of the meeting, she said, presenting development opportunities in Hawaii and elsewhere throughout the basin for Southern California firms.

Sessions will include information on the Pacific market, land costs, financing, approval processes, material scheduling, marketing and the labor force. Visits are planned to successful residential projects on Maui.

The cost is $895 per conferee and $495 for a spouse or guest sharing the same room. Included are round-trip air fare, four-night accommodations at the Maui Inter-Continental Wailea, land transportation and unlimited free golf and tennis during the stay. Details are available from Tori Carreon, at The Times, 213/972-1104.
