Mike Lachance set a world record for most wins at a harness racing track in one day, driving 12 winners during a doubleheader at Yonkers Raceway in New York.
Lachance, who set a world record with 770 wins last year, won seven of 10 races during the afternoon, then won four of the first five in the evening before breaking the record by steering Keystone Hilton to victory in the seventh race.
Lachance broke the record of 11 wins in a day at one track, set by Clint Hodgins at Dufferin Park in Toronto on Nov. 25, 1939, and tied by Joe O’Brien at Truro Raceway in Truro, Nova Scotia, on Sept. 16, 1942.
